Spain: Spanish cable operator R’s new VoD service is based on Ericsson kit, including the Open Stream Digital Services Platform, Xport producer and Ericsson Edge QAMs as part of an integrated package.

“Consumer behaviour is changing; our customers want to be able to find their favourite content and watch it whenever they want. This prompted us to look for an end-to-end VoD solution to enable us to enter the VoD market with a compelling offering that meets our customers’ needs,” said Antonio Rodríguez del Corral, R business development director. “The new user interface developed in this project blends realtime, VoD and catch-up content, providing an impressive renewal of our pay-TV service. Ericsson and its partners for user interface have delivered a flexible solution that allows us to provide a personalized television experience and greater consumer choice.”

“Consumers increasingly demand a more individual television experience from their service operator, so when R was looking for an industry leading VoD solution, Ericsson was the obvious choice. R customers are now able to easily find the content they want and have the flexibility to watch it in their own time,” said Staffan Pehrson, Head of Solution Area TV, Ericsson. “Providing R with this VoD solution means that it is now able to build better relationships with customers, expand on-demand services revenue while minimising the deployment costs.”
